About the Event
Dr. Ismaël Traoré is a racial diversity, equity and inclusion educator and specialist and the Director of Faculty Equity at the Office of the Provost and Vice-President Academics, and an Institutional Initiative Strategist at the Equity and Inclusion Office, UBC. At the heart of his work is anti-racist organizational change through evidence-based practices. He is interested in issues of power and privilege, multicultural organizational development, emotional intelligence, community engagement, and the social determinants of health.
This talk explores resistance to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) work within organizations. Participants will be presented a model to understand the unique contours of EDI resistance and some of its overt and subtle manifestations. In addition, there will be breakout room discussions for participants to reflect on how resistance to EDI work appears in their organizational contexts.
This event is open to Langara community members (students, staff and faculty), SIETAR BC members, and the general public. Registration required in advance.
